France’s Largest Wine and Spirits Expo

I had a wonderful invitation from Mr and Mrs Marie (Albert & Jacquelyn–Stéphane’s parents) to join them and experience France’s largest wine and spirit show. We spent hours roaming up and down approximately 50 or so long aisles in one of Paris’s largest exhibition centers …sampling and learning all about the glory of French wine and spirits!

With over “1,000” exhibitors from all over France…it was a sight to see! You had every French wine maker and French spirit’s producer present and ready to pitch you on why their elixir was the best.

Idea…save time and money on visiting all of France by purchasing numerous plane flights and hotel accommodations…simply buy one ticket to this impressive show and bring a sleeping bag – and for the next 4 days you can travel (walk) around France sampling drink and food from all around the country…??!!

Albert and Jacquelyn use this once a year event to stock up on their wine and spirit selections for the up coming year and holiday season…you will see their success at the end of my picture collage !!

Some tasting lines are longer than others…
Everything (regions and types of wine/spirits) is color coded for easy visual identification…i.e. Champagne makers are under a gray sign, Calvados winemakers are under a black sign, Cognac makers are under a deep red sign, Alsatian wines are under a yellow sign, etc.

 

Decisions
Cognac stop…and tasting (of course).
Our new best friends and Cognac Coaches….they did their job well..I ended up purchasing a wonderful a 25 year old XO Cognac

Our Calvados Stop (Albert’s family is from Normandy where Calvados is the region’s famous spirit)…Calvados is whiskey made from apples…it’s terrific…try it in a “sidecar” cocktail!
After taste-testing all afternoon you have a chance to check your driving capabilities?!!

The Paris Wine and Spirit Expo was a big Success !! The Marie’s now have all their wine and spirits inventory for the next 2 days :-) !!!
