Class is in session — Lunch is served.
Bérangère orchestrated another fun event at one of Paris’s (many) restaurant and culinary teaching institutions. This nice afternoon and gourmet lunch was held at the Ferrandi l’école Française de Gastronomie.
The unique part about this event was that the lunch was being served and orchestrated by all 1st year students at the school. So there were (approximately 30) 17, 18, 19, and some 20 year olds (from the Chefs in the kitchen to the servers, busboys/girls, to the Maître d’) meeting you at the door and giving you their best performance to make you feel like you were arriving at a very nice restaurant. It was fun to have 6 or 7 people waiting on you and approaching you with first time jitters (or not) as this was their first experience interacting with real consumers and not with classmates. The lunch was delicious, Bérangère and Joan’s company was superb and after all the plate dropping, food spilling and many flash back memories of being back in school and having your classmates look at you and whisper (I can’t believe you just did that….everyone saw you! :-)…it was a really nice time…I look forward to visiting them when they are seniors and saying… “I remember when you spilled the pumpkin soup on the young lady at table 26!
I apologize that I missed taking pictures of all our courses (Entrèe, Plat, Fromage, Dessert)…but I did photo the menu (so you can read what we enjoyed) and of course I captured the dessert presentation/cart and how I was “forced” to try both desserts being offered !
